What is Energy Healing?

Energy Healing

Energy healing, also called biofield therapy, is a holistic therapy that has been used for thousands of years that restores the balance and flow of energy, healing body, mind, and spirit.

Everything pulses with energy.  Humans have an bioenergetic field that extends three to four feet out from the body. This field acts as a highly sensitive communication center that stores and transmits information between our body and our environment.  This field has been acknowledged and proven to have a significant impact our our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

Used for thousands of years in many countries and cultures, energy healing was the primary way to help people heal.   Ancient healers knew that what happens in the body is reflected in our energetic field and the health of this field can reflect health in our body, mind, and soul.   In the United States, biofield therapy is increasingly being used as a complement to traditional western medicine.

Energy healing practitioners are trained to listen in to the subtleties of this field to determine where there are depletions or distortions and work to restore those areas to create flow and help stimulate the body's innate ability to heal itself.

Our Energy Field

Attitudes, experiences, beliefs, and emotional trauma are all stored in our energy field.  Sometimes energy around a traumatic event or injury stays with us and flow is restricted.  When flow is restricted we tend to repeat patterns that are unhealthy for us or that energy experesses itself in physical pain, or illness.  Lisa will work in partnership with you to to encourage emotional release in order to move energy and restore flow.

Energy Centers

There are seven major energy centers, called chakras, in the human body.  These concentrations of vital life force energy are linked to organs in the body, emotions,  mental attitude, physical health, and more.  Knowledge of the characteristics of these energy centers help practitioners assess the messages from a client's body and best direct the healing session.

What to Expect During a Healing Session

Your first step into your authenticity

Each session will last approximately one hour

You will remain fully clothed and will be lying on a massage table, or sitting down if that is more comfortable for you.

Lisa will spend some time getting to know you, learn your goals for healing, and will answer any questions you may have.

While you don't need to fully understand energy healing to glean its benefits, it helps to have a receptive mind.  Setting an intention for your healing each session is important, as you and Lisa will work as partners to reach your goals.

Lisa will spend time to make a full assessment of your energetic field and will share those findings with you.

Most of the healing work is done above the body, but sometimes there is light touch.  This non-invasive therapy is done with the hands in a heart-centered and intentional way to unwind, clear, energize, and balance the human and environmental energy fields of the body, glands, and organs, thus affecting your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.  This puts you in the best position to self heal.

During a session you may experience a range of symptoms including slight pressure, total relaxation, temperature fluctuations, localized warmth or coolness,  tingling, emotions, memories, etc. .  These sensations mean energy is moving.

Energy continues to move twenty-four to forty-eight hours after a session.  You may feel energized, fatigued, relaxed, or may feel like you are coming down with a cold.  It is important that during this time you drink plenty of water, avoid strenuous exercise or other holistic healing modalities, and if you are able,  take a short epsom salt bath to accelerate the removal of toxins from the body.

Energy healing is a gentle and supportive way to take care of yourself; body, mind, and soul
